During Ramadhan 2017, the blood stock at the Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD) of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Malang City is running low, it is said that the stock of blood bags in UTD Malang is currently remaining -/+ 1,600 bags, consisting of all types and blood groups. Meanwhile, the average blood demand at UTD PMI Malang City is 150 blood bags per day. Usually the target of donors per day is around 100-150 donors, but during the month of Ramadan the number of donors usually decreases. In order to maintain blood bag reserves during the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2017, UTD PMI Malang City in collaboration with YPAPK held a Ramadan Blood Donation at UTD PMI Malang City on June 13 & 14, 2017.
On the first day, 284 blood bags were collected, while on the second day prospective donors had packed the location before the event started and managed to collect 343 blood bags. The total blood bags collected during the two-day event was 627 bags. Hopefully it can help the blood supply at UTD PMI Malang City a little, and be useful for people who need blood transfusion assistance.
