PHBS Counseling and Handwashing Practice at MIS AL-Mubasyirin Cilincing, North Jakarta

In collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa, YPAPK held a PHBS counseling and handwashing practice at MIS Al-Mubasyirin located at Jl. Kalibaru Barat No. 34, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on November 16, 2017.

The location near the harbor, near the fish auction, often exposed to tidal floods, and lack of clean water causes this school to look shabby. Due to limited funds, the school can only maintain the school as much as they can. But they are still passionate about educating children who mostly come from poor families, and 30% of them are broken homes and do not know a father figure. So, let alone cleanliness, even love may not be understood by these children.

As a result of the high cost of clean water, residents must of course conserve water, which can gradually have a negative impact on health. There are even children who say that they only wash their hair once a week.

In addition to being taught the importance of personal and environmental hygiene, children are also given hand washing stickers that are monitored by their respective homeroom teachers for the next 21 days. Dompet Dhuafa also presented notebooks and pens which were welcomed by the children. It is hoped that the counseling provided in 2 sessions for Grades 1-3 and Grades 4-6, can slightly improve the mindset and habits of children regarding hygiene and health.

YPAPK also brought its Mobile Education Vehicle (WELI) to the event.
