YPP SCTV Indosiar and Ministry of Social Affairs Hold Cataract Surgery Mission in Alor Island

YPP SCTV Indosiar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, PERDAMI, and the Alor Regency Government, organized a Cataract Surgery Social Action at Kalabahi Regional Hospital, Alor, East Nusa Tenggara. Held from February 26–28, 2026, the mission successfully performed surgeries on 177 cataract eyes.

The event was attended by the Director General of Social Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Mr. Supomo; Executive Chairperson of YPP, Mr. Abas Yahya; and the Head of Kalabahi Hospital, dr. Lodywik Anjassius Ata Alopada. The medical procedures were supported by a PERDAMI team consisting of 6 ophthalmologists and 11 healthcare professionals.

Patients traveled from various districts and surrounding islands within Alor Regency. Due to the challenging geography, many had to endure 3 to 4-hour journeys by land and sea to reach the hospital. To ensure accessibility, the Ministry of Social Affairs provided lodging facilities for patients traveling from remote areas, allowing them to undergo treatment comfortably.
