
After a 2-hour journey from Cibaliung highway, YPP and Relawan Kampung finally arrived safely in Batu Hideung Village, Cimanggu Sub-District, Pandeglang. In the midst of a drizzle and muddy dirt roads, a simple inauguration ceremony of the Bridge of Hope’s rehabilitation program was carried out by Relawan Kampung Foundation with the help of funds from SCTV viewers given through YPP.
Dozens of Batu Hideung villagers who rely on rain-fed paddy fields, coconuts, banana plantations, and lobsters caught at sea as main livelihoods were present to witness the handover from the Chief Executive of YPP, Abas Yahya, to the Batu Hideung Village Head, Sarca Ali Rahmat. Representing his villagers, the Batu Hideung Village Head said that the bridge is going to be very helpful for residents, aiding in activities such as farming, gardening, and school activities. One of the residents, Bibi, said that the bridge has also increased the price of commodities such as coconuts and bananas. “Initially, before the bridge existed, prices of the goods would decrease exponentially, with hundreds of rupiah per grain or coconut or per banana comb, but now we can sell around 2000 to 3000 per grain or coconut or comb.”
