YPP and YKAO Visit Residents' Homes for Healthcare Assistance

The YPP team around Semeru continued their activities in providing assistance to residents who have evacuated. On December 11, SCTV Indosiar's Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation (YPP), in collaboration with Karya Alpha Omega Foundation (AO Care), provided free medical treatment for refugees from the eruption of Mount Semeru in Kamar Kajang Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang Regency. This activity was carried out at five evacuation posts in residents' homes in Kamar Kajang Hamlet.

Doctors carried out examinations by visiting the residents’ homes that housed refugees. A total of 66 patients were treated with many complaining about experiencing hypertension, acute respiratory infections, and myalgia. The refugees were grateful for the aid and stated that having the doctor themself visit helped reduce the cost of traveling to get checked at the hospital. 

Apart from free treatment, the YPP team also distributed logistical assistance by combing through evacuees in 4 local residents' homes. At the last location, four-wheeled vehicles were unable to even enter, so the aid packages were distributed by foot and two-wheeled vehicles. The logistics distributed consisted of 128 packages containing 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of flour, 1 liter of cooking oil, 2 kg of canned fish, 3 boxes of instant noodles, 312 cans of packaged fish, 10 boxes of Instant Noodles and 725 Cloth Masks.

Saat itu dia sedang menyiram bunga dan mendadak situasi berubah gelap, abu Semeru tumpah ke sekitarnya. Bu Nanik membangunkan anaknya yang sedang tidur. Setelah Salat Asar keluarga Ibu Nanik mengungsi tanpa sempat membawa barang berharga satupun, kecuali baju di badan. Selang satu hari mengungsi, sang suami menengok kondisi rumah berharap masih ada barang yang bisa diselamatkan. Ternyata rumahnya sudah rata dengan tanah terendam lahar dingin dan lahar panas Gunung Semeru.
