Special Surprise for Mbah Untoro

YPP SCTV Indosiar gave a special surprise to Mbah Untoro, winner of the Liputan6 Awards in the education category.

Mbah Untoro is an inspirational figure from Gunungkidul who imparts life advice through the medium of wayang kulit and teaches the craft to others. Mbah Untoro teaches children in his village while lying in bed as a result of a paralysis he has suffered from for 32 years. Assistance was provided in the form of an adjustable special bed and the Decubitus mattress. The adjustable bed allows the patient to change the position of their head, bend of the legs, and height of the bed. Meanwhile the Decubitus mattress prevents continuous pressure on the back and other parts of the body. Such pressure can cause minimal blood flow to parts of the body, causing tissue damage or what is called "decubitus", a condition that often occurs in patients who suffer from long-term paralysis. Assistance was provided in hopes that Mbah Untoro can conduct his lessons more comfortably.
