SMAN 1 Somambawa was renovated using funds from the "I Like Dangdut Challenge 2015" program (ILDC), "Sekolah Kita 2016" program funds and YPAPK funds.
ILDC funds were used to renovate the school building, Sekolah Kita funds were used to procure furniture/school equipment for three classrooms, as well as the construction of 3 school toilets, while YPAPK funds were used to add school textbooks.
A total of 8 schools were successfully renovated and built using Sekolah Kita funds:
1. SDN Tenjolahang 2, Jiput - Pandeglang, Banten
2. SD Inpres Bengo 2, Manuju sub-district, Gowa district, South Sulawesi
3. SDN Trimulyo 2, Semarang, Central Java
4. SMPN 1 South Siberut Mentawai, West Sumatera
5. SDN Patemon 12, Krejengan sub-district, Probolinggo district, East Java
6. SDN Rinca Island, NTT
7. Tambuko primary school, Sumenep Madura, East Java
8. SMAN 1 Somambawa South Nias, Sumut
In carrying out the renovation & construction of the school, Indosiar entrusted it to Yayasan Relawan Kampung Indonesia (YKRI) consisting of volunteers who in their daily lives work as building construction experts in various well-known construction companies.
