On December 18, 2024, Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation handed over Catfish Cultivation to the residents of Pedangangan Village, Tegal Regency, Central Java.
As many as 100 catfish ponds and 80,000 catfish seeds were provided to villagers through the Village-Owned Enterprise, Maju Bersama, Tegal Regency.
The inauguration of the Catfish Farm was attended by the Chairman of YPP, Mr. Imam Sudjarwo.
Catfish farming is a profitable business due to stable market demand. With a fast harvest cycle of 2-3 months, farmers can generate regular income in a relatively short time. The current demand for catfish in Tegal Regency cannot be met because the demand is relatively high but the supply is limited, so the establishment of this farm is expected to meet the demand for catfish in the Tegal Regency area.
In addition, catfish is a high source of animal protein and contains omega-3, omega-6 fatty acids, as well as various vitamins and minerals that are good for health. The relatively low price of catfish makes it a nutritious food choice for people from various economic levels.
