In the Midst of Pandemic, YPP and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Organize Blood Donation in Anticipation of Reduced Blood Supply

In the midst of the COVID 19 pandemic and during the month of Ramadan 1442, Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation continues to carry out Blood Donation activities in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in a number of cities. The implementation of Blood Donation in Ramadan is a regular activity done as part of YPP's support to PMI in replenishing blood supply. Based on PMI data, the availability of PMI blood decreases during Ramadan and Eid while the need for blood increases. 

To support PMI in carrying out blood donations in the midst of the COVID 19 Pandemic, Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation distributed 1000 masks through Emtek Peduli Corona to PMI Yogyakarta City on May 3, 2021. This delivery of masks is highly expected by PMI to prevent the spread of the COVID 19 virus, of which there are still many cases. Masks will be distributed to donors and the surrounding community in need.

On May 4 – 8, Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation joined hands with the Indonesian Red Cross’ Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD PMI) of Surabaya City to hold the Ramadan Blood Donation event. The activity took place at the UTD PMI Surabaya City Office in Jl. Embong Ploso No. 7-15, lasting from 08.00 WIB – 20.00 WIB. Residents who came to donate blood were not only from Surabaya, but also from Sidoarjo and Mojokerto. PMI prepared a waiting and examination room while implementing Covid-19 protocols. Present at the activity was Head of Surabaya Transmission, Prihantono; Head of UTD PMI, Dr. Budi Arifah; and Deputy Chairman of PMI Surabaya City, Tri Siswanto. YPP provided 1200 consumption boxes for donors and committees. Hopefully, the donations can help replenish blood supply for those who need it.

Ramadan Blood Donations were also held in other cities, this time the Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation collaborated with UTD PMI Malang City to hold the event on May 6 – 8, 2021. The activity took place at the UTD PMI Malang City Office in Jl. Buring No.10 from 08.00 WIB – 21.00 WIB. 

The residents were reported to have been enthusiastic about participating in the blood donation activity that lasted for 3 days. In this activity, YPP provided 875 consumption boxes for donors and committee members. Despite the pandemic, people have not lost their spirit to contribute and donate blood during the month of Ramadan all thanks to PMI’s strict implementation of health protocols. Hopefully, this activity will be useful and a blessing for all.

After Surabaya and Malang, Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation collaborated with UDD PMI Gresik to hold the Ramadan Blood Donation activity on May 6 – 7, 2021. The activity took place at the UTD PMI Gresik City Office at Jl. Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo No. 93 on 15.00 WIB – 22.00 WIB. 

Friska, one of the donors, admitted that she was very happy to be able to donate blood to help those who need it in the middle of fasting month. In attendance for the activities was M. Najib, Chairman of PMI Gresik. YPP provided 500 consumption boxes for donors and committees.
