Yayasan Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih in collaboration with PT Bank Tabungan Negara Persero, Tbk carried out gender equality education activities for women in Fatumnasi Village, Fatumnasi District, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara on February 21, 2025.
Gender equality education is an effort to increase public understanding and awareness of the importance of providing equal rights between women and men, both in social, economic, political as well as in the environmental aspects. In this context, Mrs. Maria Sanam as the resource person for this activity is one of the figures who plays an important role in fighting for women's rights in the city of Soe, East Nusa Tenggara.
Mrs. Maria Sanam is known as an activist who not only fights for women's rights in social and political aspects, but is also very concerned with environmental sustainability, especially forests which are a very important natural resource for the livelihood of the local community. In Soe, many women depend on natural products, such as gardening, farming, or utilizing forest products.
Through the gender equality education that she leads, Mrs. Maria Sanam strives to strengthen women's position in the social and economic structure at the local level, by improving their skills, introducing them to sustainable economic opportunities, and ensuring that women's voices are heard in environmental policy decision-making.
