05-08-2023Free Cataract Surgeries in Sumba, NTT
Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Indosiar SCTV Foundation and the PERDAMI’s Central Cataract Blindness Management Division (SPBK PP) have worked together to hold a Cataract Surgery Social Service program at Reda Bolo Regional Hospital, Southwest Sumba Regency, Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara on May 4 and 5, 2023.
130 patients have successfully undergone surgery during those 2 days. The surgeries were carried out by 5 ophthalmologists and dozens of nurses.
The patients did not only come from Southwest Sumba, but also from Central Sumba and East Sumba. The participation of patients coming from all areas of Sumba Island came from a lack of eye specialists on the island.
